Value for Money Auditing in the Office of the Auditor General of Ontario
By encouraging improvements in the delivery of public services and recommending ways for the provincial government to achieve greater value-for-money in its programs and services, our work plays a key role in helping the public sector to better plan and “navigate the future”. This presentation will explore some of the work taking place at the Office of the Auditor General of Ontario to help the province chart its course through the future, and it will also cover some of the internal approaches and initiatives we are using, such as an updated organizational structure, new cross-ministry and IT audit teams, and enhanced annual reporting to ensure that we continue to add value, communicate our findings effectively, and meet the demands of the public sector. The presentation will also highlight some of the high-profile findings and recommendations from our recent audits that are likely to have an influence on major programs in coming years, and our perspective on the province’s growing debt now and into the future.
