Dean Shivji

Dean Shivji is the Senior Advisor to the CAE at Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC). Dean’s career with the federal government has spanned over 15 years, covering a wide range of areas including program compliance,  grants and contributions, corporate planning, measurement and reporting, enterprise risk management, internal control,  and risk-based audit planning. He previously managed a number of technical/vocational institutional development projects in various developing countries across numerous sectors. Dean has delivered this presentation for the IIA Ottawa Chapter 2014-15 program calendar, the Financial Management Institute’s Professional Development Week 2015, and the 2015 Infonex Public Sector Big Data & Analytics conference in Ottawa. In all cases, strong audience responses and feedback were received. Moreover, Dean has shared materials with audience members who are currently implementing some of the practices in their own internal audit organizations. Dean also led a private workshop at the IIA International Conference in Vancouver due to strong interest from peers at the conference in learning more about this approach.
